Edinburgh Schools Film Competition at Edinburgh International Film Festival
Check out the future filmmaking stars in these two dazzling programmes of the best short films made by Edinburgh school pupils.
All pupils in Edinburgh were invited to enter our Schools Film Competition and here are the very best from the hundreds of entries,
chosen by the Youth Jury. The films, from primary, secondary, nursery and special schools across the city all demonstrate enormous passion for cinema and imagination in abundance. A partnership between EIFF, Pilton Video and City of Edinburgh Council, this project was sponsored by Bright Grey and funded by Awards for All.

We have now agreed with the Edinburgh International Film Festival that as a result of our successful pilot in 2008, there will be a second City of Edinburgh Schools Film Competition/Event in June 2010.
We are currently looking for films made by your pupils in Edinburgh schools over the past 18 months preceding the final submission date. The official deadline for submission is Tuesday March 30th with an extended deadline for Higher Media Studies students of Friday 23rd April.
There will be screenings of the best films from Edinburgh Primary Schools on Thursday 17th June and the best films from Edinburgh Secondary Schools on Friday 18th June
On Saturday 19th June there will be a further TWO screenings for parents and family to join their young film-making talent in a special week end screening event
Submissions for selection should be up to 5 minutes in length, although the Selection Jury will also consider 5 minute extracts from longer films.
You can submit dramas, documentaries, animation, or moving image material that has been created in your School. The important thing is that the young people have been actively involved in creating the work themselves.
